June 11 - V-Day -1 and counting.
After months of planning and years of dreaming, I can*t believe we leave tomorrow!  Of course, I also can*t believe that this would be the day that the shredder would break (Roy needs to shred the pasture before we leave), the tractor won*t start, the battery in the motorhome is dead (actually I can believe this--its always breaking.  Thanks heavens we are not using it for this trip), the trainer says that the four year old (*Chocolate*) that she is working on has a hip problem (could be permanently debilitating) and need rest, and nearly every other dog in central Texas has decided to give birth (just the bitches, thank-you)  I think I need a vacation from my vacation.

June 12 -  V-Day is here!
1) update website
2) take Telly*s mare Irish to the trainer so she can work on her instead of Chocolate

3) be at clinic by 8am for possible C-Section (another one)
4) see all last minute cases
5) pay all June bills
6) take house pets (Goldie, Elmo, Tigger & Kari) to the clinic
7) advise Angela about the change in horse plans (she is taking care of the remaining horses)
8) call to hold the paper
9) call to find out how late Amtrak will be
10) check online the lastest congressional vote to see if Amtrak will even be around for our return trip, or if they will be flying us home!
11) Farewells to Ellen & Walt

11) Meet mom at the clinic
12) lock up the house
13) mom will drive us to Temple, Texas (In case I forget to say it: thanks Mom)
14) Board Amtrak's Texas Eagle railway

Should be simple....
Right.
I think everything went more or less according to plan.  It was just hectic.  It was such a blessed relief to finally be on board the train with nothing left to do but relax.

Roy and Ry especially had fun figuring out his new birthday present - a GPS which tracked to within 28 feet of the exact location of the train by satellite.  Here they are plotting the course of the train through San Marcos, TX

Roy and Ry share a giggle in our sleeper car.
