June 20th VIA Skeena RR
Prince George to Prince Rupert, BC

We arrived in Prince George after 10pm June 19 and were met at the station by our Bed and Breakfast host, Bernie.  He and his wife have transformed their home into a comfortable waystation for tourist like us.  They call their home The Gallery House.

For their 43nd anniversary, Bernie did all the cooking, allowing his wife to sleep in.  No wonder their marriage lasts!
After a sumptious breafast, Bernie took us to the other train station in town, the VIA (Canadian Natinal) RR, where we boarded the VIA Skeena train.

There we were also pampered with incredible service and luxury.  Our Attendant Monsier Moon was wonderful.  He entertained us as he served us and even gave french lessons.  Riding in the Dome car through these mountains was magical too.

This route took us by the Nechatako and Skeena Rivers to the coastal town of Prince Rupert.
These rivers were also flooding at this time of year, due to recent rains, as well as snow melts.  There were lots of waterfalls as well.

Finally, we reached the coastal town of Prince Rupert.   We stayed at the modestly priced Harbor Inn and still enjoyed the view of Prince Rupert Harbor.  This is the night before the summer solstice so it did not get dark until nearly 11p.m.  It made it hard to settle down to sleep.  So we used our misguided energy to do some laundry and walked around the town.
