Y-Incision:
Which time setting do you prefer as a reader or writer?  Why?

Cynthia Baker:
I have always loved post-eps from Seasons 1-4. It's a Morgan & Wong thang.

Y-Incision:
What are the hurdles for each setting?

Cynthia:
Well, if you're a canon freak:

SEASON 1: no Krycek, no Gunmen until the 16th ep, no Skinner until the 20th ep
SEASON 2: no more Deep Throat, the abduction arc
SEASON 3: no more Melissa Scully
SEASON 4: bleepin' cancer arc, Krycek loses an arm
SEASON 5: the mytharc begins to crumble beneath its own weight
SEASON 6: no more Well-Manicured Man, enter Kersh, enter Morris
Fletcher, no more Syndicate/Consortium after 12th ep, nano-thingies
inside Skinner after 10th ep
SEASON 7: no more Samantha mystery after the 11th ep
SEASON 8: absent Mulder, working around Scully's 13-month pregnancy
SEASON 9: who babysits William, absent CSM, absent Mulder, no more
Krycek, no more Gunmen after 15th ep

The advantages?

SEASON 1: Mulder & Scully look so young and dress like gov't workers
SEASON 2: enter Krycek
SEASON 3: more than a dozen wonderful episodes for inspiration
SEASON 4: see above
SEASON 5: enter Jeffrey Spender
SEASON 6: none
SEASON 7: all things confirms an extra-professional relationship
SEASON 8: enter Doggett & Reyes
SEASON 9: the mytharc isn't that complicated after all
