Hey, you there!
Are you listening to me? Yes,
YOU who read fanfiction, and
especially You, sitting at the
typewriters and keyboards.
Now, I have a few things to
say, so thank you for paying
attention.
I was created by Chris Carter
who had an idea for a T.V.
series about a man obsessed with
his sister's alien abduction,
and the paranornmal. Chris
put me into David Duchovny's
body, then hired writers and
directors to help flesh me out.
The real me came out once in a
while through David, Chris, even
Vince Gilligan and Frank
Spotnitz. However, once in
a while, some writer actually
had the nerve to write me
as I was not, poor David
had to misinterpret me, and
I felt so humiliated!
Do you know how it feels now?
Just as I have recovered from
some of the crazy stories that
truly did me, Mulder here, a
gross injustice, I found out
that some fanfiction writers
were putting me into all
kinds of situatiions.
Some of the nicer situations,
the ones that truly revealed
me, showed my shyness, my
tenderness, my concern for
humanity. Often, my feelings
for fellow fictitious character
Dana Scully were shown very tastefully. (She says
"hello" and, yes, she is
doing quite well most
days.) Sometimes, however,
you folks portray me in a
different light!
First of all, I would not use
Scully as someone to take out
my frustrations with in violent
sexual acts. We both regard
each other tenderly and have
a deep respect that surpasses
animal lust. Yes, we make
love! Not S&M! And NEVER
rape!
Next, about Krychek.... nope,
never was sexually attracted
to him. Both totally hetero.
He says "Hi", and right now
he is working on his duality.
He was of some help to us on occasion, you know.
Oh, I have never had a mad,
passionate affair with Skinner.
(He and Sharon are discussing
their marriage, which is still
up in the air...). And he has
never been to bed with Krychek
or Scully, or Monica, or John Doggett.
Yes, I made some innuendo at
times. I was too shy to come
out and ask Scully to date me,
so I felt that if I flirted
with her enough, she might
see that I was interested,
and, well...
As for "abandoning" Scully
and William, I was doing some
serious investigating that
would never have been done
had I stayed as a working agent,
in full view of the infiltrated
system! You know how much I
love those two? Yes, Lara, Christine, and all you others,
you know what I feel and who
I am.
I have a sense of fun, humour,
appreciate a good joke. I am
NOT one for laughing at
someome else's pain.
Most of you have done well in
your representation of my
character. When I get written
out of character, I gently
nudge the ones who show me
correctly and they start
composing.
I'm flattered you ladies like
the body, but it belongs to
Duchovny! And he belongs to
Tea Leoni.
You see, people who are
fictional characters are more
than flesh and clothing: we
are the sum of your
imaginations, hopes and
dreams, even fears.
Captain Kirk, Little Joe
Cartwright, even Beaver Cleaver
are all here in this realm
with my fellow X-files friends.
I had a troubled childhood,
and can't remember much of it.
Well, look at Eddie Haskel
and Laura Ingalls Wilder
over there. Laura was a real
person, but there are many
fictitious versions of her.
I see Oliver Twist and CGB
Spender together sometimes.
Off-beat? Not in this
imaginary universe.
Think of me kindly, folks.
I have always been very
grateful to you!
Best of writing to you,
Fox William Mulder.
As told to:
Pattie.
